Residential Care Homes

Residential care homes also known as adult family homes, group homes, or board and care homes are usually smaller communities designed to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing homes. These facilities typically provide care to seniors in a family-like settings with limited, often part-time medical care.

This type of senior care is excellent to residents who are not willing to live in a large senior community, but require the level of assistance that larger communities, such as assisted living communities or nursing homes can offer. Staff at residential care homes can assist residents with basic living tasks such as medications, meal preparation, toileting, and housekeeping duties. Because of the small size of the community and usually more intimate settings, many residential care homes have specialization, such as: diabetes care, memory care, for residents who speak a specific language, or for residents with similar cultural or religious background.
