We created this website to help seniors and their caregivers find senior living and senior care options across Canada. Protecting the privacy and personal data of our customers and other visitors to this Web site is important to us.

In general, SeniorsZen collects, uses and discloses Personal Information for the Purpose of:
2.1 Finding seniors living–related services for you or a family member and to communicate with you about SeniorsZen and our services.
Personal Information may be collected by SeniorsZen when Site visitors complete one of our online information request forms and/or over the phone (for example, when you speak with one of our Senior Housing Advisors or our call centre representatives) and may be stored or accessed in Canada and/or the United States. This Personal Information may be disclosed in response to valid demands or requests from governments, regulators, courts and law enforcement authorities in Canada.
If you provide us with a false name or email address, you may not receive a response to your inquiry or your request may not be processed. However, any Personal Information you give us in other fields may be used to help solve issues that exist. As and example, if you have Personal Information that you would like to relay to someone at SeniorsZen but do not accurately identify yourself, you may include the Personal Information in the Notes section of the form. That Personal Information will be sent to the appropriate team member who can help resolve the issue regardless of whether or not we are able to send a response to you. The same applies for anyone who enters an email address, phone number or other form of contact information incorrectly. We are not responsible for a failure to respond to someone who has submitted to us inaccurate or invalid contact information.
Whenever possible, we will collect Personal Information from you directly. However, we may also collect both personal and non-personal information about you from other businesses, business partners, contractors and other third parties which supplements the Personal Information we collect, use and disclose. When we do so, we ask the vendors to confirm that the Personal Information was acquired legally by the third-party and that we have the right to obtain it from them and use it.
2.2 Improving SeniorsZen Sites and Services
2.2.1 Internet Service Provider. Certain other information may be collected on the Sites through different technologies, described below, without your actively providing the information.
Certain information about Internet users’ traffic patterns is automatically collected and linked to users’ Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. These unique IP addresses are assigned to all Web users by their ISPs, and are automatically stored by Internet servers. While the IP address itself does not identify an individual, it may, in appropriate circumstances be used with the cooperation of the ISP to locate and identify an individual using the website.
2.2.2 Server Logs. In the normal course of establishing and maintaining Internet connections, our servers automatically log information about visits on our Site. Server logs record statistical information, such as a visitor’s IP address and type of operating system, the time and duration of visit and Web pages visited. The server logs also identify types of visitors by items such as domain and browser type. These statistics are reported in aggregate form to us and are used to improve our Site and ensure that it provides the optimal online experience for our visitors.
We do not link this server log information to any other data in a way that would enable us to identify individual visitors, except for security purposes, as discussed above.
2.2.3 Cookies. Like many other websites on the Internet, our Sites may make use of “per session” cookie technology. Per session cookies are small text files that contain a unique identification number that is automatically deposited and stored on a visitor’s computer. Such cookies track information during an open session and are stored only temporarily in your computer’s memory. This information helps us track the total number of visitors to the Sites on an ongoing basis and the types of Internet browsers (e.g., Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer) and operating systems (e.g., Windows or Android) that our visitors use. We use this information to improve your online experience with our Sites. We do not cross-reference this information with any type of personal information that is voluntarily provided.
2.2.4 Web Analytics. This Site uses web analytics service that may record mouse movements, mouse clicks, scrolling activity as well as any text you type in this website. This service does not collect Personal Information that you do not voluntarily enter in this website. The service does not track your browsing habits across other web sites which do not use the web analytic service. We are using the information collected by the web analytic service in order to improve Site visitors’ online experience.
3. USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
3.1 For the Purpose of Finding Senior Living-Related Services
We use Personal Information to provide you with the services you have requested from us and to provide services to the senior housing and senior care providers who have contracted with us (“Participating Communities”) by signing our ReferralSource or MoveInSource Agreement (“Referral & Commission Agreement”) and agreeing to be part of our referral information service program in relation to the services that we provide you with. Based on the Personal Information that we have collected from you, we will provide you with the information about one or more of our Participating Communities whom we identify as potential options for your consideration. The Participating Communities then may contact you directly regarding their amenities, activities or services. We will work with both you and the Participating Communities to help you in your search.
3.2 For the Purpose of Internal Business Analysis and Operations
We may use Personal Information for our own internal operational, statistical, or design purposes, such as to track audiences sizes, measure traffic patterns, and understand demographic trends among our Site visitors.
4. DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
We require your permission and authorization to disclose Personal Information for the purpose of providing our senior housing and senior care referral information service, and we will not disclose this information to anyone unless (a) you (or an individual authorized to act on your behalf) have consented to this disclosure; or (b) such disclosure is permitted or required by law.
4.1 For the Purpose of Finding Senior Housing and Senior Care Services
In order to assist you with finding information about senior housing and senior care services, we may disclose Personal Information about you to other people and for the purposes specified below:
4.1.1 Participating Communities. We may disclose Personal Information to one or more Participating Communities so that they may learn about the specific senior housing and senior care services that you are seeking and determine how they can assist you. Participating Communities may contact you directly by telephone, email, regular mail, in person visits or other means, based on your initial information request or as specified by you to the Senior Housing Advisor during the initial collection of your Personal Information. We do not control how these Participating Communities use or disclose your Personal Information.
4.2 Other Related Purposes
4.2.1 Providing Support. We may use your Personal Information to notify you of news events or upcoming developments.
4.2.2 Marketing. The Personal Information you provide to SeniorsZen as well as the Personal Information we have collected about you indirectly, may be used by SeniorsZen for SeniorsZen’s marketing purposes. We may provide the Personal Information to third-parties who may assist SeniorsZen in contacting you with special offers or information that we believe may be of interest to you about SeniorsZen’s services, programs or events. You may at any time choose not to receive emails from us by following the unsubscribe instructions included in each email you may receive, by indicating that you wish to unsubscribe when we call you, or by contacting us directly (please refer to "Opt-Out Procedures" below).
4.2.3 Recruitment. In connection with a job application or inquiry, whether advertised on a SeniorsZen’s website or otherwise, you may provide us with Personal Information about yourself, such as a resume. We may use this Personal Information to answer to your inquiry or consider you for employment purposes. Unless you tell us not to contact you, we may keep the Personal Information for future consideration.
4.2.5 Business Transfers. We may disclose Personal Information as part of any acquisition, merger, debt financing, sale of company assets or other business transaction. Any Personal Information disclosed as a result of such transaction will be subject to privacy protection comparable and at least as stringent as that employed by us.
5. YOUR CHOICES REGARDING HOW YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION IS USED
SeniorsZen is strongly opposed to spam. We will only send email to Site users that have explicitly requested to receive an email from us, such as "opt-in subscribers" to SeniorsZen online newsletters or Site users who complete a contact or Request More Information form.
You can always choose not to provide Personal Information, although it might be needed to submit an inquiry or place a request on our Site. If you place a request and do not provide the required Personal Information to contact you, your request may not be fulfilled.
When we collect Personal Information from you, you may inform us that you do not want it used for further marketing contact by using the Opt-Out Procedures below.
6. MONITORING OR RECORDING OF CALLS, CHATS AND OTHER INTERACTIONS
Certain online requests may involve you calling us or us calling you. Such requests may also involve online chats. Please be aware that SeniorsZen may monitor and in some cases record such interactions for staff training or quality assurance purposes, or to document a particular transaction or interaction.

We use reasonable security procedures to store and maintain Personal Information to protect it from loss, theft, misuse, alteration or destruction by any unauthorized party while it is under our control. While we will make reasonable efforts to protect Personal Information, no transmission of data over the Internet is 100% secure. All Internet users should take care with how they disclose and handle their personal information.
These Sites are not designed, and we do not intent, to collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13. If you are under 13 years old, you should not register for or use our services or otherwise provide Personal Information on our Sites.

Before SeniorsZen is able to provide you with any Personal Information or correct any inaccuracies, however, we may ask you to verify your identity and to provide other details to help us to respond to your request. Please note that under certain circumstances, you may not be permitted to view your records – for example, where the disclosure of your records would cause legal, security, or confidentiality concerns.

a) a senior seeking senior housing and senior care services for yourself; or
b) an individual authorized to act on behalf of a senior seeking senior housing and senior care services and possess legal documents such as a Power of Attorney or Guardianship or hold other proof of being the substitute decision maker of the senior seeking senior housing and senior care services.
