What is Adult Day Care?
There are two types of adult day care, social and medical and the purpose of both is that seniors have a place where they are cared for and have the opportunity to interact with other seniors during the day. In both social and medical settings there are programs keep seniors motivated and energized. Seniors can be involved and engaged socially while being cared for in a safe and comfortable environment. The difference between social and medical care centres is that in a medical day care facility, healthcare professionals are present and available.

The city of Elliot Lake is located half way between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, a 20 minute drive from the north shore of Lake Huron. Elliot Lake has 4,000 lakes within a 50-mile radius and is on the geographic formation called the Canadian Shield.

Before Elliot Lake was ever printed on a map (1910) and before it was known for its logging, mining and fur trade, the people of the Ojibwa Nation called this beautiful area on the shores of Lake Huron their home. Many artifacts from Ojibwa settlements around the Elliot Lake area have been found dating back to before 1870 and some believe they lived in the area as far back as the 1750s.
