Our Bible study visited the memory care area & I was apprehensive about what I would see and perhaps smell. What a lovely, welcoming, homey atmosphere! The staff was kind & loving and as we visited with residents we could tell they were happy & content. Visiting family all said how pleased they are with the care their resident receives. God bless you all as you serve in His love and grace.

We took a tour of Yankee Hill Village when searching for an Independent Living facility for our loved one. This facility was very nice! However, it was a smaller facility and all of the resident units were on the ground floor.

My mom is currently a resident at The Grand Lodge at the Preserve and her experience has been great. The staff is wonderful! Very friendly, very helpful--willing to help with anything. When mom fell and was recovering from surgery and rehab, they continually checked in with us. Mom has a dog, so between my sister, my niece and I, we were allowed to stay in her apartment, use her meal credits, and they checked in with us all the time. The housekeepers are assigned to each resident and clean her apartment every other week. They do an excellent job! Communication is excellent with the residents including: weekly newsletters, reminders, calendar of events, and they call us if there's anything they need to talk to us about. (They haven't had to call us. They have emailed with a couple of items when she first moved in.) I always feel like I can talk to anyone on staff for any reason. Their maintenance staff has been very prompt with any requests. Free Shuttle service is provided to doctor appointments. Other transportation is provided for $10 one way. They plan special outings to grocery shop, shopping mall, etc. and those are complimentary as long as enough people sign up. The secondary restaurant, the Bistro, is undergoing renovations and will be revealed soon! The pictures look beautiful! Outside seating, patio areas, walking paths, lawn, flowers and all landscaping are kept up beautifully! I wish they'd clean all of the first floor patio areas. That's each resident's responsibility and is a little difficult to do, so we help when needed. A new chef took over in August. Mom has not been real impressed. She really enjoyed the previous chef. I've looked at the menu each week and everything looks delicious and there is lots of variety, but she says some of the food lacks flavor. She hasn't participated in many of the activities, but there's lots of variety and hopefully she will soon. She's very happy doing what she likes to do. I would highly recommend The Grand Lodge to others. My mom has really enjoyed being there. One thing to keep in mind is the large entry fee. It's expensive, but it's like insurance. If mom can't continue to pay, they take from that amount. She would never have to leave. There are only 10 Assisted Living apartments (the rest are Independent Living--maybe 90?), so mom is already on a waiting list. Not sure when/if she will need AL. There are other AL facilities in Lincoln that she could move to, if needed.

This feels like a modern community compared to many others. This community is bright, fresh and inviting to the residents. I knew this was the place for my sister the second that I walked in. They have activities at this community like trip to various stores like target, craft activities, movie night, sporting event days, speakers, singers, yoga ball work outs, different types of work out groups, church and more for the residents to do and stay active. There are a couple of things every day for them to do.

The experience has been fantastic here. This is an excellent place to live, in fact I would want to live here when the time comes. The layout of the community, the friendliness of the other residents, plus the responsiveness of the staff have been stellar, and help make the community what it is. The apartment, utilities, housekeeping, and two meals a day are included in the monthly fee. There are activities that the residents can participate in. My loved one loves the meals. There are even menus for the residents to order off of.

This is a good place, and has a nice smell. The community has good security. They are on top of any COVID problems. The staff return calls promptly to the family. The room sizes are bigger than I anticipated and the bedrooms are large.

I do not recommend moving during a pandemic, but moving to a place as well-run, friendly and helpful as The Arboretum Village was an excellent decision for me. I suggest starting a search as early as possible to see what a variety of places offer to find what you are comfortable with, even if, like me, you begin 3-5 years before you actually plan to make any move. I wanted to leave the limitations and uncertainties of home ownership and repair. As a single person I wanted a setting that would help me maintain independence and active life as long as possible to allow me to participate within the program and outside so I could include a variety of age group interactions. I wanted to know transitions would be easily available if my health needs changed. I wanted to be near my relatives in Omaha in an area of town convenient to the many activities,, especially a YMCA or good indoor pool for lane work. This is a great location. I wanted underground parking if possible and this has a well-designed garage area. I like the structure of Immanuel Communities and am impressed so much with residents and staff here. Because of the pandemic precautions I have not been able to participate in the usual activities and exercise programs as they have been placed on hold. However, the staff has provided equipment and alternatives to help us continue exercise and activity. I am looking forward to when the regular program fully resumes but the staff makes this restricted situation both pleasant and reassuring. I choose to take a smaller unit than the one i thought I wanted which was a most popular one and had not come available. I find it is a lovely size and layout for me. I do appreciate not being pressured to take a larger unit than I felt comfortable with financially, too. I felt I was considered as a person rather than from a position of trying to "sell up." In all areas I have found the staff here to truly keep the residents well being at the forefront. That is important to me: mutual kindness and respect are important values to me, especially when it permeates my everyday life.

It is difficult to rate activities since I arrived just as we went on new rules to self-quarantine for the coronavirus pandemic. I will be happy to write amore complete review after this ends. I just want to say I am extremely impressed with the staff and how helpful and friendly they are. Also, despite the social distancing in force, the residents have been extremely welcoming. And they seem to really like living here.
